The General English courses focus on language development (Grammar, General Vocabulary) and development of the four language skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing). These courses are suitable for those who wish to improve their overall proficiency of English for either personal or professional reasons or provide an opportunity to study in a university environment.

Aims :

The courses aim to develop students understanding and communicative use of English. Students are encouraged to experiment creatively with the language to develop skills and fluency with confidence and competence. The tutors are sensitive to the needs of individual students and will offer encouragement and support to make their learning experience both pleasant and productive.

Teaching Method :

All text books for all the level are available to purchase at reception. Our teachers use textbooks, videos, magazines, listening tapes, computer programmes, newspapers and other resources developed by the college. At Scott's College London we are certain your English will improve very quickly.

Testing and Assessment :

Students are tested and placed in a group at the start of their period of study. Students are assessed regularly and a final assessment is made at the end of their period of study.

Certification of Completion or Participation :

A final Certificate of Completion or Participation is produced for students at the end of their study. Students can be sent a copy of their certificate on request.

Certificate of Attendence:

A certificate of Attendence is given to all students at the end of their period of study provided they have attended a minimum of 80% of their classes.

Special Interest Groups/Extra Hours :

These lessons are either skills-based or focus on exam prepration for IELTS/CFE/CAE. Skills practice - further development of language skills with students working on a range of tasks that integrate skills, e.g. Vocabulary Extension, Developing Writing Skills, Speaking/Listening Fluency Practice.
