Its objects are to promote the study and practice of computing and to advance knowledge of and education in IT for the benefit of the public.Trusted for its independence and integrity, BCS is the only Chartered Engineering Institution for IT professionals which can award an internationally recognized professional qualification.

Entry requirements : The student should have completed A level or similar.
All candidates must be members of the BCS and can join as student members at the time of entry. Once the students have enrolled at Scott's College London, they will be guided for registration.

The pass marks for all modules is 40%. The pass grades for the project (at both levels) are Pass, Credit or Distinction; at the professional Graduate Diploma by Dissertation, a pass only.
The professional project may be undertaken at Diploma or Professional Graduate Diploma level, according to the qualification aim of the candidate. Any candidate who has passed the Professinal Project at Diploma level cannot resubmit the same project at Professional Graduate Diploma level. The Professional Project must be authenticated using the forms provided, preferably by a fellow or Member of the BCS.

The examination will consist of a two-hour written paper on each of the three compulsory modules.
The examination will consist of a two-hour written paper on the compulsory core module "Professional Issues in Information Systems Practice" and a two-hour written paper on each of the three modules chosen from the list of specialist options.
The above qualification is equivalent to a British Bachelor's Honours Degree. Candidates may take the Professional Graduate Diploma either by written examination plus Professional Graduate Diploma Project.The Examination will consist of a three-hour written paper on each of four modules chosen from a list of specialist options.
After sucessful completion of the BCS -Professional Graduate Diploma students who wish to study further can obtain a master's degree at any British university
