Part-Time Lecturers

Scotts College London in West End is one of the UK's leading independent HE colleges, offering courses leading to Bachelors and postgraduate qualifications. The College is accredited by the BAC and on the UKBA list of approved Sponsor Colleges. Due to the continued success of the College and increasing student numbers we are now running concurrent sessions of taught modules to cater for the student numbers on both the current and future intakes of some of our courses (we have 4 intakes a year).

The student body is largely international, so experience of working with students of different cultures is a distinct advantage.

The teaching and learning environment across both College Campuses is excellent, with a well-stocked and equipped learning centre, IT facilities and state of the art facilities in the classrooms.

The College year is organised into 4 terms; within each term there are 10 teaching weeks.Each subject module is normally covered in one term. Contracts may be offered on a flexible basis for a minimum of 3 hrs/week for one term upwards.

Computing (postgraduate level and dissertation support)

Applicants should have experience of teaching in the UK University system for three or more years, and ideally are qualified at least to Masters level. Class sizes are up to 40 students (particularly Pg DMS/courses). We welcome applications from 'early', 'semi' or fully retired academics who want to continue teaching on a flexible basis. Professors and Senior Lecturers are welcome, as are those with an interest.

English Teaching staff (EFL)

English Teaching staff (EFL)

Scott's College welcomes applications throughout the year for experienced English teachers to join its excellent and expanding English team. The Department will be seeking separate accreditation from the British Council (Accreditation UK) later this year. We offer intensive full time courses for international students at pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate level as well as IELTS preparation.

Staff should be available for three and a half hour classes on a minimum of four days a week for an 11 week teaching term. If you are able to teach both morning and afternoon then you could work for 7 hours/day for 4 days a week.

Applicants must be CELTA qualified and be educated to degree level. Any teaching qualifications (PGCE etc) are an advantage.

If you are not available for the above hours on 4 days a week, we are interested in hearing from you if you'd like to join our pool of 'cover' staff , particularly if you may want to work longer hours in the future.

Student Services and Administration Team

Student Services and Administration Team

We are also seeking suitably experienced staff to join our expanding team of Administration and student support staff. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication and administration skills, be well organised, have an eye for detail as well as excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel especially) and be able to write a good letter unaided. The team are very hard working and we are looking for staff who can work well with limited supervision, after training, but can also be flexible when required to help maintain the service levels within the Department. Several roles are available - handling external registrations, handling student queries and letter requests, as well as a front office administrator/receptionist. Experience of working within education student services/administration will be an advantage.

International Student Recruitment Officer

International Student Recruitment Officer

Scott's College London one of the UK's leading independent higher education institutions requires International Student Recruitment Officers who will be responsible for recruiting undergraduate and postgraduate students mainly from Asia and Russian speaking countries. The post holders will also be required to recruit quality agents, handle leads and process applications, and will be expected to achieve set targets.

The post is in a busy International office, within a friendly and dynamic team. You will coordinate and develop key student marketing materials and undertake marketing and promotional work through a variety of activities, taking responsibility for one or more areas of operational work. This is a busy and demanding position requiring a proactive and positive approach towards providing a service exceeding customer expectation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for recruiting students from these markets and meeting the targets and deadlines assigned to you.
  • You are required to meet students and agents at the College, facilitate tours, answer queries
  • You will represent the College at recruitment fairs, open days, educational fairs and recruitment functions as needed and directed
  • You will work in the implementation of pre and post application recruitment strategies including: disseminating marketing literature, e.g. mailshots, brochures, flyers, etc
  • You will contact applicants via phone and email to encourage acceptance and ensure high conversion rates from application to acceptance
  • You will assist with market research and competitor analysis, identifying and monitoring the activities of key competitors

You must have proven ability in the following areas:

  • Ability to prioritise and organise own workload and work to deadlines;
  • Have a flexible, co-operative, creative and proactive approach to work;
  • Be educated to degree standard;
  • Have well developed IT skills.
  • Problem-solving
  • Achieving targets and meeting deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to successfully multi task
  • Developing and maintaining records systems
  • Ability to contribute to the development of strategy and policy, and to pursue strategic objectives and programmes of work;
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively in a team

Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent (2:1 or above) with preferably 2 years of experience of sales/marketing/student recruitment in a Higher Education context.

This is a full time post. Salary range 20,000 - 22,000 depending on experience.

Salaries:

Salaries are negotiable depending on experience and qualifications. Teaching staff will be appointed initially on a fixed contract for one teaching term.

Business & Management Coursework Assessors /Tutors *(for UG/PG courses NQF level 5 to 7)

Salary: 8.00 - 12 per hour depending on qualifications and experience

Role: Part Time

*Note : Some part time or full time Assistant lecturer/tutor positions may be available for suitable candidates

We are looking to appoint assessors for NQF level 5 to 7 Business courses. This is a challenging role which requires an excellent knowledge of several areas of Business and Management. You will be required to assess student work for the following Edexcel courses:

  • Edexcel BTEC L7 Professional Advanced Diploma in Management Studies
  • Edexcel BTEC L5 HNC/D Business.

Ideal Candidates are expected to:

  • Be educated to a minimum postgraduate level. (Fresh Masters graduates, MBA holders or current PhD students are welcome to apply)
  • Have knowledge of a variety of Business and Management subjects
  • Work flexibly; role may include providing face to face as well as written feedback.
  • Have experience of assessing student work at Postgraduate levels.

A teaching qualification and/or experience will be considered an advantage, as will experience of assessing Edexcel business or management qualifications.
