BA (Honours) Business Management

(route IAM)

The IAM has developed this degree with its partner, Management Development Partnership. Please see the IAM website for further details. This centre has been granted recognition by the IAM to offer tuition support to students studying for the degree.

Students will spend the first 2 years to achieve the professional advanced diploma of the INSTITUTE OF ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT before progressing to the final honours degree unless they enter the programme with prior exemptions or direct entry.

The BA (Honours) in Business Management is a one year programme of study and has four modules and a compulsory Research project.

Credits: 120 at level 3 of UK Higher Education framework.

Programme Highlights:

The BA (Honours) Business Management has been designed to help you develop your career as a business manager and to prepare you for increased responsibility in your workplace.

The aim of the course is to develop knowledge and understanding to analyse, evaluate and take responsibility for administration systems and processes that make an effective contribution to business performance.

Assessment:

Each programme module (except the research project) on BA (Honours) is assessed by a three hour examination.

You must pass all four modules before starting work on the research project with your supervisor.

The IAM Advanced Diploma in administrative Management is a 1-2 year programme of study and has four modules and a compulsory project report.

Module 3 Administrative Management of Resources
Module 4 Human Resource Management and Practice

Programme Highlights:

The IAM-Advanced diploma in Administrative Management qualification has been designed for individuals who want to use best practice tools and techniques to manage organisations. The aim of this programme is to provide a framework and tools for applying the systems approach to managing systems and processes as an integrative activity. The programme also allows candidates to consider administration in its wider business and environmental context. It introduces candidates to some of the key concepts of higher-level business discourse.

Candidates develop knowledge and understanding of the key principles involved in managing organisational resources and to provide an appreciation of the tools and techniques associated with managing finance, projects and facilities. Candidates also develop knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of managing human resources in the organisation.

Assessment:

Each programme module (Case Study or Project Report) is assessed by a three hour examination.
Unit 5 is assessed by a three hour case study examination or by a project report.

The aim of the Diploma in Administrative Management is to develop an appreciation of the people-management functions within the organisation. It provides a general introduction to the relevance of the systems approach. It also asks candidates to consider administration in its wider organisational context. Candidates are introduced to some of the key concerns of administrative managers within a rapidly changing environment. It also develops candidates' appreciation of the need to manage information.

The IAM Certificate in Administrative Management qualification for individuals who want to prepare for a career in management in business administration. It gives individuals the knowledge and understanding to become a professional in business administration.

Assessment:

There are two parts to the assessment for this qualification:

  1. Creation of a reflective learning diary related to the learning outcomes of each Unit that records evidence of skills for employment as well as academic achievements.
  2. Project Report of between 2000 and 2500 which must show evidence of application of learning from the programme syllabus and achievement of the overall Award learning outcomes.
  3. Scott's College lecturers and your personal supervisors will support your learning.
